Introduction
Questcraft is a new mod for Minecraft Java that enables VR compatibility for Minecraft Java. Along with the unveiling of Questcraft was a clip showing the mod in action, which was released earlier this week. You can enable full head tracking in Minecraft and modify UI elements like menus to function in VR, such as allowing you to move items around in a pop-up inventory window. Touch controls are also possible, although only to a limited extent. Although you can move your arms around, it seems most interactions are button-based.
Questcraft, which acts as a 'wrapper' that launches Minecraft on your Quest, requires an existing version of Minecraft Java. It's currently in beta, and its performance isn't great. This is because Minecraft is a very poorly optimized game".
Why QuestCraft?
The quick answer to why you'd want a slightly junky VR mod for Minecraft Java instead of the official Minecraft VR app is that Minecraft Java allows several mods that are either not supported by Bedrock Edition or must be purchased separately. If you just want to play vanilla Minecraft in VR, the official app is the best option. However, if you have your own Java-based Minecraft server with several mods, or you don't want to buy Minecraft again, QuestCraft allows you to enter that world and view it in stereoscopic 3D.
Minecraft virtual reality has been around for a long time. It's exclusive to Bedrock Edition, which is unfortunate for Java Edition gamers, but it's still one of the best ways to play the game.
Fortunately, most of the things are possible for those same Java users through mods. These aren't Mojang-approved or official, but they're Letting gamers do a lot of things that Bedrock players can't.
