Story and Gameplay
Our hero, Ravva the owl, has a special magic: summoning. Four companions join the journey, each with unique powers. Blue can freeze and destroy hazards with water. Yellow sees secrets across stages with all-revealing vision. Green's explosive head blows away enemies in a radius. Red shoots upward blades for Ravva to hit distant targets.
The Phantom Library, lost in time, wanders seeking something. Its shelves hold books of unread tales transporting Ravva into fantasy worlds. Heavily haunted, each book world harbors peril around every corner for our hero. To challenge the library's true master, Ravva must first conquer each book's guardian in the worlds within.
Features of Ravva And The Phantom Library
The game includes 7 fully playable stages, each with unique mechanics and bosses that will challenge players in different ways. At the start, players can choose between 3 difficulties: Easy for those wanting less challenge, Normal for a balanced experience, or Master for extreme difficulty where even a single hit can mean starting over.
Easy mode offers more health, weaker enemies, and retaining power-ups after hits, while Master has no checkpoints or health pickups and losing a boss fight sends you back to the start. Stages can be played in any order and revisited. Within each stage, optional objectives like finding secrets, breaking blocks, and defeating all enemies expand the experience beyond just bosses. Completing all side tasks in every stage unlocks a special ending for dedicated players.
Bigger changes:
Speedrun Mode now has a fixed seed
Some details are random in the game, like the reward you get from some Item Containers. This would be a nightmare for speedrunners, so we decided to make a fixed seed! Now every time you play on Speedrun Mode, you'll have the exact same items and no surprises. Neat!
Star Coins added to every stage!
Now every stage has 2 Star Coins hidden somewhere, each giving you 100 coins as a reward! Use the Yellow summon to reveal them. They're not required to complete 100% of the game, but they're fun to hunt!
Ravva's Level 2 shot have a new look!
It was a bit hard to tell that Ravva got the first upgrade to their main shot, so we decided to modify its look!
Yellow summon now reveals secrets entrances!
Our little winged companion can reveal hidden items and fake blocks, but something was missing! Now, the sonar resonates with entrances to secret passages and you get a small indication in return. We hope that this makes the secret hunting more fun!
Smaller changes:
- Completing 100% of the game now has a better indication on the World Map. No way to miss it!
- Cutscenes now have a better indicator for skipping it. When you press a button, a bar will fill showing the time needed to complete the skip.
- We added a missing jingle for when you finish the game on Speedrun Mode.
- Pillarboxes resolution has been improved and now should work better on different resolutions (like Ultra Wide monitors and Steam Deck).
- On Melvy and the Whale stage, we adjusted one of the "guts" platforms over the acid pool. Now if the player accidentally hits it and dies, the platform will be back when the player tries again (or if they leave the area).
